Almost half of Ukrainians have a positive attitude towards Greece - Experts Club study

Almost half of Ukrainians — 49.7% — have a positive attitude toward Greece in August 2026, while only 3.9% of respondents expressed a negative attitude. At the same time, 44.2% of respondents take a neutral position. Compared to March, the positive ratings decreased slightly, but the overall balance of attitudes remains distinctly positive, reports the information and analytical center Experts Club.

According to the results of the August survey, the opinion is completely positive towards Greece 15.1% of Ukrainians are positive, 34.6% are mostly positive. 44.2% of respondents have a neutral attitude. For the most part, 3.3% evaluate the country negatively, 0.6% completely negatively, another 2.2% could not decide.

The balance of positive and negative evaluations is plus 45.8 percentage points. Thus, the positive attitude toward Greece almost 13 times outweighs the negative, but a characteristic feature of public perception of the country remains a large share of neutral responses.

In March 2026, 52.7% of respondents had a positive attitude toward Greece: 16.8% were completely positive and 35.9% were mostly positive. A neutral position was held by 43.1% of respondents, and negative assessments were about 2.6%.

So, in five months, the share of positive evaluations decreased by 3 percentage points. — from 52.7% to 49.7%. The negative attitude increased by approximately 1.3 percentage points. - up to 3.9%, and neutral - by 1.1 percentage points. The balance of positive and negative attitudes, respectively, decreased from approximately plus 50.1 to plus 45.8 p.p.

Despite these dynamics, a sharp revision of the attitude towards Greece did not take place. More than nine out of ten respondents evaluate the country positively or neutrally, while the share of unequivocally negative answers remains insignificant.

Director of the research company Active Group Oleksandr Pozniy, commenting on the results of the previous wave, drew attention specifically to the significant share of neutral evaluations regarding Greece.

"The results regarding Greece show that Ukrainians do not form sharp evaluations where the interaction is less intense. In such cases, we see a combination of moderately positive attitudes with a large proportion of neutral responses. This means that the image of the country is still in the process of being formed," Pozniy noted.

The new wave of research generally confirms this characteristic: the neutral group not only remains very significant, but has also increased somewhat. At the same time, the negative attitude covers less than 4% of respondents, which allows us to talk about the preservation of a mostly positive-neutral perception of Greece by Ukrainian society.

The survey was conducted in August 2026 by the method of self-completion of online questionnaires in the SunFlowerSociology panel among 800 Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and over. In the previous March wave, 800 respondents were also interviewed; the sample was representative in terms of age, gender and region, the maximum theoretical error for indicators at the 50% level was ±3.5 percentage points.
