ATB retained leadership in Ukrainian retail trade, and Aurora grew by 30% — Experts Club

The largest Ukrainian retail chains continued to increase revenue in the first half of 2026, and the growth rates of the leading chains in most cases exceeded the dynamics of the country's retail market as a whole. ATB remains the leader in terms of revenue, while Aurora and Fora showed the highest growth rates among the largest companies, according to the analysis of the Experts Club analytical center based on OpenDataBot data.

As of mid-August 2026, 41,235 companies worked in the retail trade sector in Ukraine. Their number is growing for the fifth year in a row. Since the beginning of the year, the number of registered retailers has exceeded the number of closed ones by 796 companies, which practically corresponds to the pre-war level of net growth — 804 companies for the comparable period. In total, 969 new companies were registered in 2026, which is 32% more than the year before. (Opendatabot)

To assess financial dynamics, Opendatabot identified 2,073 companies that submitted reports as for the first half of 2025 and for the same period of 2026. Their total revenue increased by 18% — from UAH 692.29 billion to UAH 817.14 billion.

The ranking of the largest retailers of Ukraine by revenue for the first half of 2026 looks as follows:

ATB-Market — UAH 135.99 billion, an increase of 16.1% compared to UAH 117.15 billion last year earlier.

Silpo-Food — UAH 59.55 billion, +18.2%.

Buy / Aurora — UAH 28.26 billion, +30.0%.

Handicap — UAH 26.83 billion, +29.4%.

Comfi Trade — UAH 20.16 billion, +27.5%.

Novus Ukraine — UAH 19.65 billion, +20.6%.

RUSH / EVA — UAH 18.02 billion, +21.4%.

Metro Cash and Carry Ukraine — UAH 17.70 billion, +14.5%.

Petrol Contract / WOG — UAH 16.35 billion, +17.2%.

Omega / Varus — 13.72 billion UAH, +21.6%.

According to the calculations of the Experts Club, the combined income of the top ten companies reached UAH 356.23 billion, an increase of approximately 19.7% compared to the first half of 2025. Thus, the top 10 grew slightly faster than the entire comparable group of retailers.

The top ten companies accounted for about 43.6% of the total revenue of the 2,073 retailers sampled by Opendatabot. Only ATB and Silpo together received about UAH 195.5 billion, or almost 24% of the revenue of the entire researched group, and the first five - about UAH 270.8 billion, or a third of the total figure.

ATB remains the undisputed market leader: its income is more than twice that of Silpo and almost five times that of Aurora. In addition, it was ATB that provided the largest absolute increase in income — UAH 18.84 billion for the year.

However, in terms of the pace of expansion, Aurora and Fora are the most notable. The income of "Aurora" increased by 30%, or by 6.52 billion UAH, "Fory" - by 29%, or by 6.1 billion UAH. "Comfi" added about 27.5%.

Outside the top ten in terms of revenue, strong dynamics were demonstrated by FTD-Retail, which develops the Foxtrot network, which increased revenue by UAH 4.47 billion. OKKO-Light increased its income by UAH 3.88 billion, and Glusko Retail, whose gas station network is managed by Ukrnafta, by UAH 2.76 billion.

At the same time, the financial results indicate another trend. The aggregate profit of the studied companies increased by 17% — from UAH 14.91 billion to UAH 17.44 billion, but the number of profitable retailers decreased.

In the first half of 2025, 1,354 companies from the comparable group made a profit, in 2026 — already 1,272. Their share decreased from 65% to 61%.

This means that the growth of Ukrainian retail is becoming more concentrated. The total revenue and profit of the sector are increasing, the leading networks are showing double-digit growth rates, but for some small and medium-sized companies, working conditions remain difficult.

According to the Experts Club assessment, the difference between the increase in the total revenue of the studied group by 18% and the reduction in the share of profitable enterprises is particularly telling. It can indicate an increase in operating costs, the cost of labor, logistics, rent, electricity and financing, as well as increased competition from the largest networks.

At the same time, the financial statements for the first half of the year do not yet reflect the consequences of further massive Russian attacks on distribution centers, warehouses and other infrastructure of Ukrainian business, which Opendatabot separately draws attention to. Their impact may be reflected in the results of the following quarters.

General government statistics also confirm the continued growth of the consumer market. As previously reported by Open4Business with reference to the State Statistics Service, in January-July 2026, the physical volume of retail trade turnover of Ukraine increased by 9% compared to the same period last year, and its nominal volume reached approximately UAH 1.7 trillion.

Retail turnover of enterprises — legal entities — grew somewhat faster in seven months, by 9.1%. Only in July, the total retail turnover increased by 8.7% year-on-year and by 4% compared to June, and the turnover of enterprises increased by 8.8% and 3.7%, respectively. In general, in 2025, Ukrainian retail trade grew by 8.1%, so the indicators of the first seven months of 2026 indicate the preservation of higher rates of consumer activity.
