The results of a sociological survey conducted in March 2026 by the research company Active Group together with the information and analytical center Experts Club demonstrate a consistently positive, but at the same time more differentiated attitude of Ukrainians towards Poland. In total, 56.4% of respondents evaluate Poland positively, while 14.7% - negatively. Compared to August 2025, the share of positive evaluations almost did not change (56.7%), while negative evaluations increased from 12.7% to 14.7%.
The structure of the answers shows the predominance of moderate evaluations. The share of "completely positive" attitude is 19.3%, while "mostly positive" is 37.1%. At the same time, the share of neutral assessments remains significant — 27.5%. This means that for a significant part of the respondents, Poland does not evoke clearly defined emotional reactions, but rather is perceived through a pragmatic lens. alt="">
The negative attitude is also mostly moderate: 12.4% of respondents chose the option "mostly negative", and only 2.3% - "completely negative". The share of those who could not decide is minimal (1.4%), which indicates a sufficient level of formed ideas about the country among Ukrainians.
The dynamics of changes between 2025 and 2026 indicate a certain increase in criticality in the perception of Poland. While maintaining the overall positive balance, the share of unambiguously positive assessments gradually decreases and at the same time the share of negative ones increases. Such a trend may indicate a transition from an emotionally positive to a more balanced and rational perception.
It is important that Poland remains a country with a predominantly positive image in Ukrainian society. The ratio of positive and negative evaluations more than three times in favor of the positive indicates the maintenance of a high level of trust and a generally favorable attitude. At the same time, the growth of the negative component signals the emergence of new factors that influence public opinion.
The high proportion of neutral responses deserves special attention. This may indicate that for some respondents, Poland is not an emotionally polarizing factor, but is perceived as an important, but not indisputable, partner. In such a situation, even minor changes in the informational background or practical interaction may affect the balance of grades in the future.
"Ukrainians do not perceive the world in black and white and evaluate other countries fairly objectively. Where there is more information and experience of interaction, a more balanced attitude is formed. At the same time, even small changes in the political or informational environment can affect the dynamics of assessments," said Oleksandr Pozniy, director of the Active Group research company.
In general, the results of the study show that the attitude towards Poland in Ukraine remains consistently positive, but is gradually becoming more complex and multidimensional. This reflects the general tendency to rationalize public opinion, when countries are evaluated not only on the basis of emotions, but also taking into account the specific experience of interaction and the current context.
According to a study conducted by the Experts Club information and analytical center based on the data of the State Customs Service, Poland ranks second in terms of the total volume of trade in goods with Ukraine, with an indicator of more than $13 billion, second only to China. At the same time, Poland remains one of Ukraine's key trade partners in the EU, although the trade balance is also negative for Ukraine.
