Drought, which covered the southern and partly eastern regions of Ukraine in June-July, significantly affected the yield of winter cereals. According to preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the total collection of grain will be about 56 million tons.
Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions were the most affected, where the wheat yield was 20-25% lower than the average indicators of recent years.
Despite this, Ukraine retains the potential to fulfill its obligations regarding grain export — the transitional balances of last season remain at sufficient levels.
